Knowing all the students and meeting all of their needs is the most complex thing that you will have to do. A good system for recording progress is key to this and is a valuable tool as it will be necessary to share progress with others such as school leaders and parents. If students aren’t making expected progress then you need to be able to show what you have done to intervene both in the classroom and out of it, if needed – for example, revision sessions and meetings with parents. Become expert at finding students’ gaps with your assessment methods, recording these gaps and then acting to address them.
